Hip, low back & pelvis
Hip pain is one of my favourite puzzles to work through. We look beyond the painful spot to understand movement, loading, and other contributing factors.

THE WAY I PRACTISE
Your appointment is dedicated to you. I listen, assess with my hands, explain what I find, and work with you on a plan that fits your goals.
MUSCULOSKELETAL PHYSIOTHERAPY
I work with general MSK concerns and athletes, with a particular interest in the hip, low back, pelvis, and lower extremity. New injuries and long-standing problems are both welcome.
Hip pain is one of my favourite puzzles to work through. We look beyond the painful spot to understand movement, loading, and other contributing factors.
Care for knee, ankle, and leg concerns—whether your goal is a comfortable walk, a full workday, or a return to sport.
Rehabilitation that considers what your activity actually asks of you, with a gradual route back to training and play.
For symptoms that have not followed a simple path, we take a careful look at the full history and what might change the course.
A DEDICATED AREA OF CARE
Support for bladder and bowel concerns, sexual health dysfunction, pelvic pain, and rehabilitation around prostate surgery.
HOW I WORK
Manual therapy is central to my practice. I use the time with you to assess, treat, and teach—one on one.
We talk through your history and goals, then examine the movement, joints, muscles, and nerves that matter.
Hands-on techniques lead when they suit your findings. Exercise and other modalities support the work when useful.
You leave knowing what we found, what we did, and what you can do between visits.
TRAINING & CLINICAL TOOLS
My hands guide the assessment and much of the treatment. Additional techniques are available when they help answer a question or move your care forward.
One-to-one manual assessment and treatment for musculoskeletal concerns. Spinal manipulation is considered sparingly when appropriate.
Training in medical acupuncture, dry needling, and intramuscular stimulation (IMS), used when relevant to your plan.
Authorized to order imaging for my own physiotherapy patients when it can answer a clinical question or guide care.
Imaging may include X-ray, ultrasound, or MRI when appropriate. It is not needed for every condition.
MEET ERIC
“I like to understand the why behind what you’re feeling.”
I’m Eric Walper, a physiotherapist at Weber Physiotherapy in Red Deer. I grew up in Central Alberta and now have a young family here. I especially enjoy working through stubborn hip pain and problems involving the low back, pelvis, and lower body.
I earned a Bachelor of Science with distinction in human immunology and a master’s degree in physiotherapy at the University of Alberta. My postgraduate training includes manual and manipulative therapy, needling, men’s pelvic health, jaw assessment, neurodynamics, and diagnostic imaging.
I’ve also taught anatomy and physiology at Red Deer Polytechnic. Teaching remains part of how I practise: I want you to understand your body and feel comfortable asking questions. We might even end up talking books, history, or current events along the way.
